My Favorite Mood Boosters

We all have those days where we feel like absolutely nothing is going right, but trust me, you CAN turn those days around! If you have read the blog for a while, you know that journaling is a huge part of my life, and as I read back to previous entries, I’ve beem able to look back on the things that have made those days a little less, well, crappy.

Clean out your junk drawer

We all have one, and they deserve some love every once in a while. Sure, it’ll just end up being a mess soon enough, but I can’t even begin to stress how important doing mindless, yet productive tasks are when you need to decompress.

Do your hair and make-up for fun

If getting glam is something you enjoy, do it for fun. Take your time blow drying your hair, try out some new products, and listen to your favorite playlist a little too loud while doing it.

Stretch your muscles out

Even if you’re not sore from your latest trip to the gym, there’s no better feeling than sitting on the floor in front of Netflix and giving your legs some extra love. They work hard every day!

Take a bath

Because... duh?

Read your favorite book again

Some of my faves: "Catcher In The Rye" by JD Salinger, "Behind Closed Doors" by B.A. Paris, and "Something Borrowed" by Emily Giffin

Journal about the “peaks” of your week

If you’ve been reading the blog for a while now, you know how much I adore journaling. Along with the list of lists to make (lol) above, just writing out the positive things in your life is bound to put you in a better mood.

Meditate

I’ve been using the app “Calm” for a while now and I adore it. The app really helped me when I was struggling with my anxiety several months ago. Now I use it whenever I have trouble sleeping, or if I just have some time to myself and I want to practice mindfulness.

Take yourself out on a date

Go to the movies, get a haircut, grab a book and cozy up in a hole-in-the-wall coffee shop, stroll through the aisles of Target and let yourself grab a few things that you really don't need!

Paint your nails

Turn on your favorite playlist, pick your favorite shade and don’t think about anything else. Just focus on doing something for yourself.
