Style Must-Haves— Sophomore Year Edition

Today I was driving to class and I looked in my rearview mirror and saw the tips of the bandana that was in my hair. I thought, “dang, Molly, you’re totally overdoing the whole bandana thing.” It’s true, not a week goes by that I don’t have a bandana in my hair at least 3 out of the 7 days.

This got me thinking about all the things that I’ve loved wearing this year at school. The pieces that made college life simpler, clothes that were super comfy, or things that gave me a boost of confidence. I thought it would be fun to do a little round-up of my favorites in one post and reflect on the looks that made me the happiest.

Bandanas

So since bandanas gave me the idea for this post, I’ll start with why I love them so much. First off, they really allow me to go natural with my hair more often, or even go an extra day without washing. You can put your hair in a low ponytail and wrap it around the pony, you can throw it up and do a Rosie the Riveter look, or you can have the tie hidden at the nape of your neck. Basically, you can do a million different things and make a look go from boring to adorable, and even make a dressed up outfit a little more casual. My favorites have come from J. Crew, Madewell, and Target. Oh, and you can also tie one around your handbag too!!

Greats Brand Sneakers

Greats has been my favorite sneaker brand for a while now. Not only do they look great (see what I did there?) but the quality is unreal for a surprisingly reasonable price. Seriously, quality does NOT need to always cost a fortune. The look is also so classic, which means it’s easy to pair them with any outfit. Want 25% off? Use code LIBERTY

Topshop denim

Topshop is my all time favorite place to buy denim. This pair has been with me though this whole year. They have kept their shape, and have only gotten softer and comfier with every wash. Most of the time I wash my jeans I feel like they get less and less “skinny” if that makes sense. They just get worn out. Topshop gets better with age.

Apple Watch

I won’t go into too much detail since I have an entire post about it — click here. But this watch has been one of my favorite splurges. It seriously does keep me active and is super easy to use. It does everything I need it to do and it looks cute too.

Acrylic Nails

I tried to take a break from acrylics in December, but I just couldn’t do it. They did indeed need a break, but I just went right back to biting the heck out of them. I’m back to getting them done and I know, I know, they’re terrible for nails. But, they make me happy.

Viva la Juicy Perfume

My favorite perfume of all time. If you’re wanting to try it out, do not grab it full price. Look around at TJMaxx or somewhere like that so you can get a tiny discount. I’m not even going to try to describe the scent because that’s not one of my strengths. Maybe I’d say it’s girly, but not like super flowery or anything like that.

Mules & Loafers

Just wondering... what did I do without this slip-on beauties. Life had gotten so much easier when mules and loafers started popping up everywhere. I wear them for student teaching, when I’m lazy and don’t want to actually figure out my shoe situation, or when an outfit is extremely boring and needs something special. I’ve grabbed pairs from Nordstrom, Target, ASOS, everywhere.

Not a single week went by this entire school year that I didn’t wear this jacket. I’m going to miss it once it gets way too hot around here. I wore it with everything— I even got really into Canadian tuxedos (denim on denim). I think the oversized look is awesome. I wear this jacket over dresses to create a more casual, “I just threw this together” look, or I wear it over a hoodie and Lululemon leggings. Versatile to say the least.
