April Ipsy Glam Bag || Beauty Subscription Review

img_5900.jpg

A few months ago I signed up for my first subscription service to try out different beauty products. I spent a lot of time researching Ipsy vs. Birchbox and decided to try out Ipsy first. I liked the idea of receiving my products in a different makeup bag every month instead of a box that I would just end up throwing away. I did, however, sign up for Birchbox too after my first Ipsy bag came! They both only cost $10! Anyways, I thought I'd review my first Ipsy box and the products that came with it. Of course, I'll include links to everything so you can try them out too!  If you do want to take advantage of this beauty service, use this link to grab your own! https://www.thebase.me/products/lb-cream

The Bag:

This month's bag was so stinkin' cute. Designed to look like a ticket, the material was thick and durable and zipped closed. The bright, coral color is to die for. I now use this bag in my everyday purse to store makeup.

The Products:

H2O+ Beauty || Elements Keep It Fresh Cleanser

When I received this cleanser I put it in my shower right away. I thought it would be the perfect wash to pair with my Clarisonic, and was excited to see how it would go. I immediately liked it. Maybe not LOVED it, but it was fun to try out. When it comes to the things that I liked, I noticed that it doesn't have much of a scent, which I appreciate. Since I have such sensitive skin, it's easy for products to irritate my skin (read about my skincare favorites here.)

The only issue that I have that with this cleaner is that when I'm done using it, my skin doesn't feel clean. Now, I know washing your face shouldn't strip it of its natural oils and nutrients, but I do like to feel the product working.

Overall, I'd say this cleaner was just so-so, but it was fun to try. I'm going to keep it in my travel bag, and maybe reach for it to try another time soon.

Glamour Dolls x Lisa Frank Angle Brush

When I first saw this brush I thought, "umm interesting... neon and unicorns on a make-up brush." Little did I know that I would become obsessed with this tool. The bristles are SO soft and the angle is perfectly shaped. It's intended to be used as a blush brush, but I have been using it with my Becca Pressed Highlighter in Champagne Pop.

Jesse's Girl || Liquid Eyeliner in Black

I am a huge fan of liquid eyeliner. I have found that pencil always ends up melting off of my eyes, leaving me looking like a raccoon at the end of the day. My ride or die liquid eyeliner was, and still is by Almay (you can try it out here). I was excited about trying this one out when it came in my bag.

When I first opened it, I immediately noticed was how sharp the tip was. It's a felt tip, not a brush, which I like. The color is a deep black. It's a great eyeliner to use if you want a good winged look. I never really go for a wing, since I've never been good at it, but this product made it achieving that look easy.

One problem that I have with this eyeliner is that the color isn't very prominent unless you take the time to apply the product multiple times. I find myself constantly putting the cap back on, shaking the container, hoping that more color will rush to the top, and then drawing back over my original line. It's frustrating to say the least. Especially when in a time crunch.

I am going to keep this product in my makeup collection and I plan to use it when I do want to create a winged look, or if I need a super thin line.

TONYMOLY || Liptone Lip Care Stick in Honey Moisture

Y'all, this is my favorite product from the box. This lip care stick is everything. It tastes like honey, which at first I thought was kind of gross, but once I realized the amount of moisture that my lips got from it, I was hooked. I want every other "flavor". It also comes in Rose Blossom, Sugar Scrub, and Mint Light. The packaging reminds me of the EOS sticks, but the long-lasting moisture that comes with this product is 10x better. The best part about this lip moisturizer arriving in my Ipsy bag is that this is a full-size product and retails for $10 (that's the price of the whole box!) If there's one produt from this month's bag that I think y'all should buy, it's this!

The Base by Lara Bingle || LB Cream in Beige

I'm not a huge fan of getting samples of foundation and tinted moisturizers. I just don't wear much foundation in the first place, and I feel as if the colors that I receive are never the perfect match. With this color issue, it makes it difficult to try the product out since it doesn't even match my skin tone! I did, however, try this out in my own room, and I will say, the product does feel great. I just don't have too much to say about it since I couldn't a good enough sense of it.

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give this month's Ipsy bag a 6. The whole experience was fun, and definitely a do-again, but I was only super impressed with the brush and the lip moisturizer. I'm excited to see what will arrive in May's glam bag!  Check back soon to see my April Birchbox review! xoxo
