Blogmas 12.19.2019 / My Most Recent Rent The Runway Experience

I just used Rent the Runway for the first time in a while and I had a great experience. I just had to share the few photos that I have of the dress that I ended up wearing and a couple of the things that reminded me of why I love RTR so much. I also have a pretty old post that I wrote a year or two back about previous experiences and more information regarding how it works. You can read that here.

Anyways, two weekends ago Timmy took me as his plus one for a fabulous wedding at the Mayflower in Washington DC. I live for December weddings—everything is always so sparkly and the decor at the Mayflower, in particular, was unreal.

The dress code was black-tie optional, which for women, can oftentimes be tricky. Do you wear short? Long? How formal IS “black-tie optional”? One of my favorite things about RTR is that it organizes the website by formality. There is an entire section of black-tie optional dresses. Of course, there are also cocktail and formal sections as well. I was immediately drawn to the dress that I ended up wearing because it had amazing reviews. All of the gals who wore the dress said they adored it.

Also, it was a $700 dress that I rented for $100. BUT they were having their Black Friday sale when I booked the dress rental so I think it was an extra 20% off. Here’s a link to the dress! I am usually a size 0, sometimes a 2, so I ended up going with the size 2 because it was TIGHT! RTR was also offering a free extra style. Usually, it costs $30 to add a backup STYLE (not size) to your order but this time it was free. It was nice to have the extra dress style in case the one I really wanted to wear didn’t work out. I didn’t end up wearing it, but it’s cool that RTR has that option. Here’s the link to that dress!

Overall. the RTR experience was amazing. Nothing like wearing a $700 dress for the night and returning it the next day ;)
